Rebecca the Snuggler

One thing she really does like, though is snuggling. This picture was taken over Christmas 1997. Rebecca was about two months old at this point and enjoyed falling asleep in her parents arms.

The picture was taken by Susan's father, who has a great eye for these sorts of shots. The scanned image does not really do the picture justice, but we love it!

When Rebecca first came home from hospital, she did not sleep all that well. I suppose that's common, but as she's our first child, we didn't know any better!

There were several nights when I took her from her cot, went downstairs and put on The Grateful Dead and just rocked her in my arms till she fell asleep. There was one night that really stands out in my mind - each time Jerry Garcia started a solo, she would calm down, and when he stopped playing, she started crying again. You could always tell when she was about to fall off - here cry became so pathetic.  She still enjoys dancing to the sound of the Grateful Dead.
